Hello! My spouse and I will be biking the length of the Mississippi River this summer unsupported. We will be starting at Itasca State Park in Minnesota in June and ending at the Gulf of Mexico in Louisiana sometime in August. We will be tent camping along much of the way.
Has anyone here previously done the MRT, either whole or in sections? If so, any highlights or route-planning advice? We would graciously accept any wisdom from those who have pedaled the trail before. Also, if anyone lives right off the river, we'd love to make some connections with hosts! We have somewhere to stay in Minneapolis, but otherwise would be receptive to new friends along the way. Thanks for your input!
