Hi, has anyone ridden all or part of the Erie Canal Trail?
I'm an experienced cycle tourists, would love to know what you thought of the trail.
Any great sites to see along the way, great places to camp, serface condition. Why did you love it, what didn't you like?
Any other info you would like to share is more then welcome.
Also any host along the way, it would be great to hear from you. I'm fully vaccinated. I have also been a host for years.
I'll be starting my tour Sept 28 just a few weeks from now. Riding from buffalo to NYC.

Hi Tom, I would like to read something about your trip on the Canal. I rode most of it in summer of 2018 as a part of my cross country ride on the Northern Tier route (from Buffalo to Palmyra with overnight stops in Fairport and Medina.) I really enjoyed it, seeing the small towns along the way, cruising along the towpath, stopping to read the history markers, learning about the making of the canal and its short time of use. I camped at a Warmshowers site near Fairport one night and stayed with a friend near Medina another night. How was your ride? My wife and I are talking about riding the whole canal next June. Any suggestions? Jim
