Pacific Coast starting from Seattle or Portland in late-August

I'm a fit, easy going and experienced 61-year old bike tourer.  I'm a cruise ship captain working a 3 month on and off rotation, which gives me plenty of free time for adventures.  I cycled up the East Coast in April and May.  I'm currently back on a ship but plan to cycle down the Pacific Coast during my next vacation beginning in late-August.  I normally camp when I can, but also do the occaisional Warm Showers and a motel now and then.  I've toured both alone and with companions.  It would be nice to ride with a companion or two, either for the entire trip or just for a week or two.  I normally average around 50-60 miles per day, but of course I'm flexible depending on who I'm riding with.

Pacific Coast ride

Hey Todd:

Of all my bike tours, the ride down the Pacific Coast Highway was the best because there are so many others there having the time of their lives.  It is one of the best rides in the world and over half the riders are from other countries.  Not so much in Washington and Oregon but there are California State Parks every 40 or 50 miles with Hiker/Biker sections all the way down to San Luis Obispo, you see the same folks each night.  It is so much fun so don't be concerned about finding companions.  You will run into lots of fellow adventurers.
