As far as I know, the Darien Gap is not really passable in the usual sense. Maybe a handful of bicyclists have done it, the first being the late Ian Hibell. You literally, not joking, have to machete your way through it. I "think" a few have gotten some locals to take them part of the way by canoe but regardless it is not a picnic by anymeans. Most hop a boat or fly to Columbia/Panama.
I will be very interested in seeing if something has opened up. Best, John
The Darién Gap is a no-go area. In addition to John Nettles' comment, have a look at www.overlandtraveller.com/destinations/colombia_panama_travel_darien_gap2.html, and boards.bootsnall.com, among others.
Very useful info.
Anyone also interested in the Darién Gap, but not yet active on Google? Visit https://expertvagabond.com/darien-gap-photos/,
and do read the comments too. Get thrilled :) :(
There are various ways to cross Darian Gap, the most interestings one probably by small boat across villages along the coast of the Darian Gap thats only accessible by small boat..
